D.C. student trip highlights!

September 18, 2023

Here at Global Travel Alliance, our team takes great pride in customizing each group’s trip. One of specialties is middle school travel to Washington, D.C. and the histori East Coast; it’s a rite of passage for many schools across the country, and for good reason.

While our veteran group leaders each have favorite inclusions and ways they like to organize their class’s Washington, D.C. itinerary, there are certain highlights that appear on nearly all of our D.C. itineraries. Curious? Let’s take a look!

1. Photo op at the White House

They’ve seen it on TV and in the movies, and now it’s their chance to see it “IRL!” Students love this iconic photo op, and our Tour Guides do their best to work some travel magic to stop by when it’s least crowded for the best views.

2. Arlington National Cemetery

An important part of our key theme that “Freedom is Not Free,” our visits to Arlington are somber, educational, and inspiring.

3. Monuments and Memorials

Do you know the difference between a monument and memorial? There’s no better place than Washington, D.C. for students to learn this nuance, and also experience the majesty of these important historical sites. Insider tip: we often visit these spots in the evening when it’s less crowded, and to maximize our time on tour.

4. Nationals MLB Game

Students love to blow off some steam and attend a professional sporting event! Including a Nationals game on an itinerary is a great evening activity and for those without pro sports in their hometown, it’s yet another memorable experience from their trip to D.C.

5. Smithsonian Museums

Did you know that as home to 21 museums and the National Zoo, the Smithsonian is the world’s largest museum complex? While it’s impossible to visit them all let alone see everything, our Washington, D.C. student itineraries showcase some of the best!

What else would you include as a “must have” on your D.C. itinerary?
