Montana & Rocky Mountain Field School

Day 1: Arrive Great Falls, MT

Transfer to Ranch, evening orientation

Activity: Landforms and Geologic History of the Rocky Mountain Front and Glacier National Park

Day 2: The Rocky Mountain Front Ecosystem

Work on local ranch, grizzly bear management, habitat restoration—a Full day of activities at the 6,000 acre Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Ranch.

Day 3: Glacier National Park

Hiking in Glacier National Park looking for mountain goats, bears, elk and other wildlife. Climate studies and citizen science monitoring programs.

Day 4: Whitewater Rafting, Blackfeet Culture and/or Paleontological Studies

Blackfeet history and culture. Visit various historical and cultural sites such as the Old North Trail, visit with Blackfeet historians, service work in the Blackfeet community. Paleontologist for a day learning about the dinosaur discoveries along the Rocky Mountain Front and work at an active dig uncovering dinosaur fossils. Whitewater rafting long the southern edge of Glacier National Park on the middle fork of the flathead river.

Day 5: Depart for home

Final morning activity before departing for home
