Student Travel to Puerto Rico

While our American Heritage programs to historic East Coast destinations including D.C., and GTrek programs to Yellowstone and Costa Rica are incredibly popular, our student groups travel to destinations far and wide. Already this spring, we’ve conducted tours to exotic destinations such as Israel and South Africa.
We love highlighting the exciting itineraries our groups enjoy. Let’s take a peak at an 8th grade trip to Puerto Rico from earlier this spring! Service learning, fun in the sun, cultural exchange, and lifelong memories. What more could you ask for in a student group tour experience?

Students embarked on a guided tour of El Yungue National Rainforest, learning about the local flora and fauna on their hike. Their ecotourism education continued when they traveled to Camuy for a biologist-led tour of the ecosystem as they studied the variations of flora and fauna of the northwest. Their in-depth experience continued with a tour of Hacienda La Esperanza in Manati and another nature reserve tour in Orocovis with biologists.
Their comprehensive examination of Puerto Rico’s natural beauty was complemented by a unique service learning project with local organization, Para la Naturaleza. The students gave back to the local community by assisting the organization with reforestation efforts following Hurricane Maria.
Beyond service work and science studies, a highlight of the itinerary was a full day of cultural immersion and exchange with local students and their families including home cooking experiences.
In addition to these inspiring educational and cultural activities, students had plenty of fun in the sun! From zip lining in the central mountains of Orocovis to a bike rental in San Juan, a visit to Mar Chiquita Beach and more, this well-rounded itinerary provided something for everyone and memories that will last a lifetime.
From customized international service learning programs to wildlife studies in Yellowstone National Park and of course our rite of passage 8th grade trips to D.C., our team delights in connecting educators and students with life-changing travel experiences.
